Sportsman's pictures

Congratulations to KB.Com driver Andy Buckley on his win last night. Maybe I'll have to get one of those Jed engines for my Jeep...they seem pretty good. Good weekend for Jim with a couple wins

Only thing I know for sure about next weekend is Sunday at Sportsman's. I'll have to see how much time I have for Friday and Saturday races. The 3 race weekend this week set me behind...so I'll have to see what I get done this week

Dave Shagla, Jr. wins the first ever Steel Block Late Model feature at Andy Paden’s Sportsman’s Speedway

By: Pam Baker

Knox, PA….8/8/04….. Dave Shagla, Jr. from Sugar Grove, PA goes into the record books as the first ever winner of a Steel Block Late Model race at Andy Paden’s Sportsman’s Speedway. Other feature winners included Bob Garvey, Morrisdale, PA – 358 Modifieds; Andy Buckley Stoneboro, PA – Outlaw Stocks and Jay Groves, Sugar Grove, PA – Micro Sprints.

The first ever appearance of the Steel Block Late Models to Sportsman’s Speedway is now in the record books, but before the first lap could be completed a five car pile up in the fourth turn, stopped the racing action momentarily. Leaders, Gary Miller and Scott Stein were running side-by-side through the fourth turn when they spun collecting with them Brian Smith, Chris Farrell and Ward Schell. No one was injured, but the cars were not as lucky as everyone headed pit side. Once the green flag flew Bobby Hoffman took the lead on the first of the twenty-five lap feature and moved away from the field by several car lengths. However, by lap fifteen Dave Shagla had moved into second and went to work on Hoffman. The two ran nose to tail for several laps, before Shagla was able to make the pass for the lead coming out of the fourth turn. Shagla led the final six laps to pick up the feature win. Riding home second was Hoffman followed by Billy Henry, Jr., Ward Schell and Pete Alspaugh. Heats were won by Tom Snyder and Dave Shagla, Jr.

Bob Garvey and Kevin Hoffman led the field of twenty four 358 Modifieds to the drop of the green. Garvey had constant pressure from last week’s winner, Hoffman for the fourteen laps, before Clarion, PA’s Brad Rapp took over the second spot from Hoffman. With only two cautions during the event, the fast paced race found many positions being challenged for and at the end Hoffman found Jimmy Holden on his rear bumper for third. Garvey in his first visit to the track this season led from green to checker. Brad Rapp finished a close second with Jimmy Holden taking third from Hoffman on the nineteenth lap. Hoffman finished fourth with Brian Fink rounding out the top five. Heats were won by Brian Fink, Mike Butterworth and Mike Stein.

Twenty five cars took the green for the Outlaw Stock feature but before the first lap could be completed the caution flag flew. Last week’s feature winner, Mike Pegher, Jr., found himself involved in an opening lap accident with Scott Bochek that ended his night before it ever got started. The car suffered heavy damage which put him out of the race. Bochek suffered a flat tire, went to the pits and started at the tail of the field. Once the race went green, Tom Slack took the lead and led through the fifth lap before suffering a flat left rear tire which sent him to the pits. Taking over on lap six was Joe Drusko, but his lead was short lived as Terry Kroner took the top spot away the following lap. Kroner led only one lap before Andy Buckley took the reigns. With four different leaders in eight laps, the race had already become a real barn burner for the fans. With Buckley in the lead Gary Norman started to apply pressure by the halfway point, but twenty-first starter, Ron Iorio had different thoughts as he was making his way to the front. Iorio took over second on lap eighteen and put the pressure on Buckley, but he was able to hold to the top position and picked up the win. Finishing second was Iorio followed by Gary Norman, Scott Bochek who came from the back of the pack, and Burton Fingado. Heats were won by Mike Pegher, Jr., Tom Slack and Joe Drusko.

Jay Groves and J. J. Lute led the twenty-two car field of Micro Sprints to the drop of the green with Groves pulling away from the field. A caution at the end of the first lap for Adam King grouped the field together, but Groves once again got off to great start. The caution flew once again on lap four for last week’s winner, Sean McAndrew, Jake Spangler and Josh Berasi who spun in the fourth turn. Once again on the restart, Groves jumped into the lead and the distance to pick up his second feature win of the season. Following in second was Steve Dunmire, followed by Mike Himes, Doug Karlene and Karlin Miller. Heats were won by Mike Himes, Jay Groves and Sean McAndrews.

Coming up next Sunday night at Andy Paden’s Sportsman’s Speedway will be a four division program of Sprint Cars, 358 Modifieds, E-Mods and Mod Lites. Gates open at 4 p.m. with races starting at 6 p.m. Adult admission is $9.00; youth 12-17 - $7.00; kids 5-11 - $3.00 and 4 and under Free. A family pass that includes 2 adults and up to four children for $25.

ROB EYLER WINS FIRST OF SEASON IN SPRINTS AT TRI-CITY SPEEDWAY; DEL ROUGEUX
JR. INHERITS DIRT MOD WIN; BRENT RHEBERGEN SCORES 40TH IN E MODS; BRUCE
SMITH AND DON BLAKE JR. ALSO REPEAT WINNERS
by Brian Spaid

August 8, 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

FRANKLIN, PA ... With point races heading into the final stretch,
Tri-City Speedway hosted another Sunday night of racing action as Rob Eyler
(Northpointe Automotive Super Sprints), Del Rougeux Jr. (Schwab's Ford DIRT
Modifieds), Brent Rhebergen (RPM Auto Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods),
Bruce Smith (E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks) and Don Blake Jr.
(Victory Lane Graphics Thundercars) scored feature wins on a beautiful
summer evening for Ronald McDonald Kids Night at the Venango County
half-mile oval.
Two weeks earlier, Rob Eyler of Franklin, Pa., left the track dejected.
He ran out of fuel while leading with three laps to go handing the win to
two-time defending track champion Rod George. This time around, Eyler
experienced the thrill of victory with his first win of the season in the
20-lap Super Sprint feature passing point leader Jarod Larson with two laps
to go. It was his second career win at Tri-City and his first at the track
since July 1, 2001. It was also his second win of the weekend after a
victory Saturday night at Mercer Raceway Park in his White Heating
Maxim/Kriner No. 5A.
"Ever since we had that good run with the World of Outlaws at Lernerville
Speedway, we've really run well," said Eyler. "I've been pumped up and we're
getting some money in the bank. I just watched the traffic at the end and my
car came on. I had to move up in front of Jarod to make the pass for the
win. I couldn't run too low. This is a lot better than two weeks ago."
Eyler and Jason Jacoby started on the front row, but Larson blasted into
the lead on the first circuit off turn four taking the lead from Eyler. Once
out front, Larson built large leads amongst three cautions. After the final
restart on the 11th circuit, Larson again pulled away from Eyler while
George zipped around Jacoby for third. With less than four laps to go, it
became obvious that Eyler's car was faster than Larson. Amidst lapped
traffic on the 18th circuit, Eyler drove low under Larson off turn two,
drifted in front of Larson, and assumed command of the race. Racing a superb
line, Eyler scored the win to become the seventh different Super Sprint
feature winner of 2004. Larson padded his point lead with a second place
finish. George finished third while Todd Bauer slipped under Jacoby for
fourth on the final circuit. Larson and George won the Super Sprint heats.
Del Rougeux Jr. inherited his third feature win of the season in the
20-lap DIRT Modified main when race leader Josh Skarzenski dropped out of
the race with only two laps to go. The 2002 track champion was the class of
the field until the bolts fell out of the left front axle under caution,
which forced Skarzenski into the pits. As a result, Rougeux became the race
leader and forged onward to his seventh career win at Tri-City in his Vinyl
Graphics Unlimited Bicknell No. 20D.
"You hate to win one like this," said the defending track champion. "Josh
and I were talking earlier tonight about battling for the lead. I've got to
thank the crew and Bilstein shocks. They put together a new shock package
for me and it's really working well. Combined with our new engine, we're
running a lot better than we were the last few weeks."
Joe Crawford was the early leader of the race with Skarzenski and point
leader Andy Priest right behind. After dueling side-by-side for two
circuits, Skarzenski raced under Crawford off turn two on the seventh lap to
take the lead. Skarzenski then blasted out to a half-straight advantage.
Rougeux passed Priest for third at the halfway mark, and then battled with
Crawford for second. With four laps to go, Rougeux raced under Crawford off
turn four to take the runner-up position. With two laps to go, the only caution of the race occurred when
George Hobaugh spun in turn two. Under yellow, Skarzenski suffered his woes
and fifth place runner Chanda Reitz suffered a flat tire. The entire top
five was altered with Rougeux now the leader over Crawford, Priest, Rex and
Russell King. Over the last two laps, Rougeux raced to the win unchallenged
while Priest passed Crawford for second. Rex King finished fourth in an
effort to stay within sight of Priest in the battle for the track title.
Chris Schiffer took fifth on the final circuit from Russell King. Schiffer
and Kevin Bolland captured the DIRT Modified heats.
Brent Rhebergen of Clymer, N.Y., achieved a new milestone in his career.
The two-time defending track champion captured his 40th career E Mod victory
at Tri-City in the 15-lap feature event. It was the seventh win of the
season for Rhebergen, who piloted Bruce and Kathy Steadman's Sharp Tool &
Die Pierce No. 69 to all of those victories.
"When we started this deal five years ago, we never dreamed it would be
this successful," said Rhebergen. "The Steadman family gives me an excellent
car to run every week. I'm just the driver, their entire crew is what makes
this team a success."
Point leaders Mike Potosky and Jim Frontz led the field to the green
flag, and Frontz bolted out to the early lead. On the fourth circuit
following a restart, Potosky took command while Rhebergen moved into second.
After dueling with Potosky for two circuits, Rhebergen worked under Potosky
in turn two to grab the lead, which he held to the end of the race. Behind
him, last week's winner Shawn Shingledecker flew through the top five over
the last five circuits to finish second. Potosky slipped to third. Shawn
Domhoff and Jamie Shetler rounded out the top five. Frontz finished sixth.
Scott Stiffler and Shetler won the E Mod heat races.
Bruce Smith of Franklin, Pa., led wire-to-wire and captured his fifth
feature win of the season in the 15-lap Pro Stock feature. With the win,
Smith maintained his point lead over two-time track champion Bobby Whitling.
It was Smith's 11th career feature win at Tri-City in his D/B&S Cabinets/J&A
Tool Pontiac No. 36. Except for a brief attempt by rookie Doug Iorio II to
take the lead late in the race, Smith was peerless.
"I didn't see him at all," said Smith. "I'd like to thank my crew for all
their effort last week after that heat race accident and we came back to
finish fifth. I don't like to talk about points, but it is really close
right now with Bobby, and I'd really like to win a track championship."
Smith started on the pole position and immediately took the lead at the
start from outside polesitter and last week's feature winner Jason Engles.
While Smith led, Iorio and Engles battled side-by-side for second for nearly
10 laps. With no cautions to slow the action, Smith entered lapped traffic
over the last five laps. In that traffic, Iorio was able to take control of
second place and closed on Smith. With two laps to go, Iorio challenged
Smith on the inside of turn four, but Smith was too fast. Iorio finished a
career-best second over Engles, Whitling and Doug Iorio. Jason Johns and
Whitling scored wins in the Pro Stock heats.
Don Blake Jr. of Titusville, Pa., continued his march toward the 2004
Thundercar track title with his seventh win of the season in his Monaco
Cycle Sales/Townville Auto & Equipment Chevrolet No. 43. Blake held off the
stiff challenges of Curt Bish Sr. over the final circuits of the 12-lap
feature to score his eighth career win in the class.
"I'm watching him," said Blake. "Curt was there and we hit, but it didn't
affect the car."
Regina Deloe led the first seven circuits. Running her best race of the
season, Deloe held off Blake's challenges for several laps. Finally, on the
eighth circuit, Blake bolted outside her in turn two to take the lead. Bish
managed to squeeze past Deloe following a restart with four laps to go. He
then chased down Blake. The two drivers battled for the lead and made
contact in turn four with the white flag waving in the air. The contact
caused Bish to get loose and Blake dashed away to the victory. Bish was the
runner-up for the second week in a row. Deloe matched her career-best finish
in third followed by defending track champion Jeff Manners and Kevin Cooper.
Tri-City Speedway continues with its 50th Anniversary season next Sunday
August 15th with a five-star racing program that includes the Northpointe
Automotive Super Sprints, Schwab's Ford DIRT Modifieds, RPM Auto
Sales/Shawgo Real Estate E Mods, E.F. Rogers Plumbing & Heating Pro Stocks,
and Victory Lane Graphics Thundercars on Molson Night. One-on-One Spectator
Races will take place at the end of the racing action. Race fans will be
able to compete in the event with their passenger cars and trucks, which
must be licensed, registered and inspected. No modifications or special
tires are allowed. All drivers must register in the pit area and must also
wear a helmet. Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing starts at 6 p.m. Adult

KRISTYAK FENDS OFF HOLLABAUGH’S LATE MODEL FOR SMACKDOWN VICTORY; EYLER WINS SPRINTS WITH WING THIS TIME; HALL TOPS SPORTSMAN FOR HIS 3RD WIN; BOOHER WINS 1ST IN STOCKS; CAREER FIRST FOR SHAFFER IN STRICTLYS
By Mike Leone
August 7, 2004 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mercer, PA…Mercer Raceway Park hosted “SmackDown!” featuring another action-packed five-division program of racing on Saturday night. Scoring wins and celebrating in the McClung Auto Body victory lane were Tommy Kristyak-Campbell-Peterson Trail & Turf Big-Block Modified/Late Model Challenge, Rob Eyler-Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Cars, Rick Hall-Tire Express Sportsman Modifieds, Brian Booher-Stock Cars, and Bryan Shaffer-Maurer’s Trading Post Strictly Stocks.

Of Tommy Kristyak’s 105 career Mercer wins, Saturday’s night victory may have been the most unusual. The Stoneboro, Pa. legend came out on top of a 30-lap see-saw duel with veteran Late Model racer Steve Hollabaugh to capture the $2,000 “SmackDown!” Big-Block Modified vs. Late Model challenge victory.

“He (Hollabaugh) had me nervous there for awhile,” revealed Kristyak following his track-high sixth win of the season. “He got me on that restart and it looked like I wasn’t going to get him, but I learned my lesson fast. I knew to get on the bottom and I had it. I got a good jump on that restart, but I knew if I didn’t get to the bottom he’d eat me up so I slowed it down and got to the bottom and here we are!”

The luck of the draw put Kristyak on the pole with Hollabaugh alongside. Hollabaugh raced out into the early lead with Kristyak in tow. Sixth starter, Chuck Kennedy moved his Late Model, up into contention taking third away from fellow Late Model racer Jeff Henry on lap four. Andy Priest, who started eight, followed Kennedy to the front and also got by Henry for fourth on lap five. Priest had just worked his way under Kennedy for third on lap 14 when Kennedy slowed to bring out the caution.

On the ensuing restart, Kristyak got a great run on the outside and made a power move through turns one and two to take back the lead. The two would battle for the last-half of the event as only one more caution would slow action. Hollabaugh pressured Kristyak getting under the modified point leader on numerous occasions, but just wasn’t able to make the pass. Hollabaugh’s last ditch effort came in turn four on the final lap. Hollabaugh was able to get his nose under Kristyak, but ran out of room as Kristyak out-dragged him to the checkered to win by about two car lengths. Kristyak’s 52nd career big-block victory came in his Kristyak’s Korner/Fred Elder Excavating/M&D Paving/McCool Signs & Graphics-sponsored, Hine Racing Equipment-powered #26z Teo.

Hollabaugh settled for the $1,000 second place paycheck, but was jubilant as he emerged from his car. “I was a little off in turns one and two, but three and four were real good,” explained the Guys Mills, Pa. driver. “I’d like to thank Vicki Emig and everyone at Mercer putting this race on. It was fun! It’s tough to beat this guy (Kristyak) at this track. We wrecked at Tri-City last Sunday and this car was a bare frame on Monday. We worked our tail off all week to support this show. It was a real good time.”

Priest was third over ninth starter Jeremiah Shingledecker. Brian Fink turned in his best performance of the year in Glenn Hinkle’s 358 small-block to finish to fifth. Sixth through tenth were Henry, Carl Murdick, Lee Miller, Jeremy Paup, and Les Myers. Big-block heat winners were Shingledecker and Kristyak, while Hollabaugh won the Late Model heat.

For the second straight event, Rob Eyler was victorious in the Luxaire Heating & Cooling Sprint Car. His last victory came without the wing, but this week Eyler captured his first winged victory of the season in the 25-lap $1,500 to-win event. Motor problems with early leader Jamie Smith and a crash that involved Jeff Banyas and Gary Kriess, Jr. played into Eyler’s fate.

“The first three cars were all about the same,” described the Franklin, Pa. winner. “It was the preferred line where everyone was running. I just waited and got lucky. Jamie (Smith) was the fastest car here tonight. Gary (Kriess) and Banyas had good cars, but I bided my time. The last five laps the car was fast. I could run where I wanted to. We’re trying different stuff and getting better and better.”

Smith got the jump at the start getting by pole-sitter Banyas for the early lead. Kriess, who started fifth, was on the move taking fourth away from Butch Beasley and third from Eyler on lap two. Smith caught traffic on lap six making it a three-car race for the lead between laps six through eight. Smith was able to work his way through traffic to maintain his lead until the red was displayed with 13 laps completed for a fire under Chris Matthews’ car. Under red, flames began to develop under Smith’s hood. Just prior to the resumption of racing, Smith took his car to the pits and retired from the event.

When racing resumed, Banyas was now the leader with Kriess, Eyler, and Rod George trailing. Kriess pressured Banyas over the ensuing laps in his #55J and was all over the young racer on lap 20. With traffic playing a factor, a four-car race developed for the lead. Kriess tried to make a move on Banyas in turn three on lap 21, but got into the back of the leader sending Kriess upside down and ending Banyas’ bid for his first career win.

Eyler was handed the lead and led the last five laps in his White Heating/J.I. McCall Construction/World of Wheels-sponsored #5a for his sixth career win. George was second and chopped into Smith’s point lead. Arnie Kent was third over Scott Bonnell and Charlie Holben. Jason Dolick was sixth. Finishing seventh through tenth and recording their best finishes of the year were Gale Ruth, Jr., Chad Levingston, Beasley, and Jeremy Cook. Heat winners over the 19-car field were Ruth and Kriess.

Scott Bonnell of Fairview, Pa. had his 360 in and earned the $150 bonus as the highest finisher in the Moore CDL Driving Academy “Pegasus” Series for the first time this year. Also receiving bonus monies were point leader Dolick, Cook, and Pup Nystrom.

Rick Hall went wire-to-wire leading all 20 laps of the Tire Express Sportsman Modified feature for his third win of the year. “I started up front and that always makes it easier,” explained the Stoneboro, Pa. driver following the $600 win. “The last restart made me nervous.”

Hall quickly took command of the race from the pole position, while Dave Murdick passed Fred Sasse for second on the opening lap. Jeff Schaffer, who started fifth, entered the mix taking third away from Sasse on lap two. A caution for Jerry Schaffer slowed action with 11 laps completed. Ninth starter, Gary Smoker, powered past Jeff Schaffer and Murdick on the ensuing restart for second. Smoker hounded Hall over the course of the remaining using the whole race track to try and make a move, but Hall remained steadfast. A caution for Jerry Schaffer, Jim Rombold, Jr., and Pud Welsh with 19 laps completed set up a one-lap shootout to the finish.

When racing resumed, Smoker slowed and exited the track giving Hall a clear path to the checkered. Hall’s 13th career sportsman win and 20th overall at Mercer came in the Hall’s Safety Equipment/Grove City Dodge/Campbell’s Asphalt/Thomas Construction-sponsored, “Skinny” Hall-owned #B2. Dave Murdick gave Joe Walsh his best career finish in his #76 in second. Jeff Schaffer held third to maintain his perfect streak of top five finishes. Jeff Walters and Kevin Thompson were fourth and fifth. Topping the heat races were Thompson and Eperthener over the 23-car field.

Brian Booher was the winner of the 20-lap $600 to-win Stock Car feature for his first victory since a $600 special event win on May 17, 2003. “I made up my mind we were winning tonight,” expressed the Sandy Lake, Pa. victor. “I was going to beat him (Gary Norman) whether he broke or not, but I hated to see him break. The Hoover boys put me in this car so maybe they’ll keep me for next year now.”

Norman raced ahead of Chris Brown on the start and took control of the event. Tenth starter, Andy Thompson, passed Doug Iorio and Brown for third on lap three. Norman, who has been plagued with mechanical woes all year long, wasn’t able to break the jinx as he exited the track in the lead on lap 10 handing the top spot to Booher with Thompson and Iorio following. Iorio worked his way under Thompson for second on lap 13. However, following a restart with 13 laps completed, Thompson and Rick Norco were able to slip past Iorio for second and third. Norco moved up one more spot into runner-up on lap 18 edging Thompson at the line.

Two cautions with 18 laps completed slowed action and set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Booher wasn’t to be denied as he captured his seventh career win in the Ed & Jerry’s NAPA/State Line Roll Offs-sponsored, Terry Hoover-owned #00H. Norco was second for the second time in the last three events. Fourteenth starter, Terry Wheeler, was credited with third after Iorio was docked to fourth for getting into Thompson. Russ Coyne was a career best fifth. Scoring heat race wins over the 28-car field were Thompson, Iorio, and Booher. Bobby Whitling won the B main.

After spinning two times while leading, high school student Bryan Shaffer finally put together 12 good laps to win his first career race in the 12-lap Maurer’s Trading Post “Redneck Racers Shotgun Series” Strictly Stock feature. The New Castle, Pa. resident led from green-to-checkered in his Shaffer Auto/Tire Express/Frank’s Accounting-sponsored #77. BACK TO BUSINESS AT SHARON SPEEDWAY

(Hartford, OH .. August 7, 2004) Last week the USHRA Monster Jam rolled into town to do some car smashing on the front stretch of Sharon Speedway, but it was back to business this past Saturday night as the five regular divisions returned to resume their point battles. Lincoln Electric / Linde Gas sponsored the night’s events, providing drivers with information on the latest in welding technology and giving out Linde merchandise to the fans. Also attending tonight’s races were Anderson Coach and Travel who gave away another Nextel trip to a lucky enthusiast. The USAF/Ricky Rudd show car was on display and handed out souvenirs to the kids.

The first feature up was for the new Green Flag Sprint Division. Six cars took the green with Jimmy Weller III taking the early lead. Doug Kekich who was driving the car for his first time this season, took control of the second place spot and challenged Weller III on numerous occasions. However, a bobble by Kekich in turn two would give Weller a definite advantage and sent him on to his second feature win in as many starts. Kekich crossed the line second followed by Skip Daugherty, Guy Griffin and Maria Mayerchak.

The Coy Brothers Trucking Emod feature found Chuck List Sr. and Jeff Sharp on the front row. Luck has certainly been on Sharp’s side the past several weeks as the computer-generated re-draw which produces the feature lineups has pulled his car # to start in the top 4. Although he would gain the lead, luck would not stay with him this night. Sharp immediately grabbed the lead and led for the first 12 laps. Seventh place starter, Alan Dellinger, driving the Scott Stiffler entry, used wide straightaway runs and the low groove in the turns to overtake Sharp by lap 13. Dellinger became the sixth different e-mod driver in victory lane this season. Paul Phillips had his best feature finish in second with Rick Robinson third. Point leader, Cal McKinney was fourth and Rich Stiffler fifth. Heats went to Dellinger, Robinson and Jim Bickerstaff. Arlan Coy won the Consi.

Next on the track were the Sunburst Environmental Sprints who are looking at an interesting points battle. Coming into tonight, points leader, Ed Lynch Jr was ahead by just 55 points. Lynch Jr is a yearly competitor at the Knoxville Nationals, which meant he needed to accumulate as many points as possible this week so as not to fall too far behind during his off-week. Fremont Ohio’s Jody Keegan and young favorite, Jimmy Weller III brought the field to the green. After three tries to complete a lap, Weller powered his machine into turn one to the cushion side of the speedway, claiming the top spot. A caution on lap eleven bunched the cars nose to tail. Jarod Larson was the second place car when a rear tire went flat, putting Mike Lutz in second on the restart. Lutz and Lynch tried challenging Weller on restarts on laps 14 and 18 when the field was slowed for the final time. Weller held his line sending him to Victory Lane for the first time in Sharon’s 410 Sprint division this year. Lutz followed Weller across the line with Lynch, Kevin Andrusky and Roger Campbell completing the top five. Heats were won by Lynch, Jack Sodeman Jr. and Brent Matus.

Kevin Bolland picked up his second win of the year, finding the slick surface to his liking and leading the entire 25-lap distance. Alan Dellinger and point leader, Jim Weller Jr. battled for eighteen of the 25 circuits for second and third. Weller made his move on the 21st lap to finish second. Dellinger settled for third with Rob Curtis placing fourth and Del Rougeux bringing in fifth. Rob Curtis, Rex King and Jim Rasey were heat winners. Josh Skarzenski won the consi.

Bill Hanna and Dave Ferringer started on the front row of the City Disposal Service Pure Stock feature. Caution fell on the second lap with Ferringer out front by a car length. Yellows were displayed on laps 5 and 10 as Ferringer and Hanna stayed 1 and 2. Point leader Steve D’Apolito, who started eleventh, maneuvered into second with five laps remaining. D’Apolito garnered the lead by lap 12, heading to victory for the 5th time. Ferringer was a close seond, followed by Dan Lewis, Hanna and Danny Exley. Heat winners were Dave Ferringer, Gary Robinson, Larry Root, Danny Exley and Dan Lewis. Russ Kapalin and Brian Carothers won the consis.

Coming up next Saturday, August 14th, Dreves Insurance will sponsor the evening’s events, including Super Saturday giveaways and a visit from Jeffrey the Giraffe of Toys R Us. Gates open at 4:00 with racing at 6:30.

Only 3 late models...and a modified won. Already saw plenty of excuses ;)

Anyways...
Nice run for Jeremy Paup. Too bad he got a flat at the end, would have been his best run. Looking better every week at Mercer. Now if he could get a handle on Tri-City. Keep up the good work bud

Sportsman's tomorrow of course. Not sure about next weekend yet...have to check my site sometime this week. Even you, Carla :)
